Muhlenberg College’s Suspension and Dismissal of Tenured Professor Over Gaza-Related Speech

On September 26, 2024, the AAUP announced that it would conduct an inquiry into the case of Muhlenberg College’s Maura Finkelstein, a tenured professor in the Anthropology Department. The AAUP reported that Finkelstein was  first summarily suspended from her tenured position at Muhlenberg College and then dismissed because of a student complaint regarding her extramural speech and conduct related to the war in Gaza.
